Behavioral Health in Emergency Departments

HAAHE has heard from its members that the design of psychiatric patient safe rooms in emergency departments is a significant concern. April’s meeting will feature two experienced healthcare architects from Page architecture/engineering to address:

  • What are the latest regulations and guidelines for handling Behavioral Health patients in Emergency Departments?
  • What are some examples of facility solutions being used successfully by other hospitals?

  • Kurt Neubek, FAIA, LEED AP, EDAC, LSSBB, is Page’s National Healthcare Practice Leader. He has programmed and planned tens of millions of square feet of facilities across the US and abroad. Kurt is a frequent speaker on leading edge topics in the design and construction of healthcare facilities.
  • Beth Carroll, AIA, ACHA, LEED AP, EDAC, is a Principal and Senior Healthcare Architect with healthcare planning and design experience across the country. Beth brings recent relevant experience researching and designing for Behavioral Health patients in Emergency Departments.
